What a comeback for Alex Diaz! After being embroiled in a controversy with a fitness coach in late 2019, the actor-host is continuing to start off the year with a bang by marking his debut in the international movie scene!
The former MYX VJ is set to appear in the action-thriller CounterPlay alongside Sam Worthington, best known for portraying the lead role of Jake Sully in the Avatar film trilogy. The Australian actor will play a former hostage negotiator who comes out of retirement to help a young man (Diaz) who is wrongly accused of drug trafficking.
Alex took to Instagram to express both his excitement about doing the film under MAM Holdings, Inc. (a production company owned by Alex’s father Michael McDermott) and working with Worthington, citing himself as a fan of Avatar.
“excited as our film at @mamholdingsinc was finally announced at the Berlin Film Festival the other day. swipe to see the hype— #AvatarFan” Alex wrote as the caption.
CounterPlay will be shot in the Philippines sometime in August, with Pedring Lopez, director of the Viva Films offering Maria, to direct.
This is not the first time Worthington will work with a Filipino cast and crew. Back in 2005, the actor co-starred in the war film The Great Raid, an American movie about the raid of Cabanatuan island in World War II.
