Actress Angel Locsin once again proves that she truly deserves her name.
Angel just made it to the list of Forbes Magazine’s 13th annual Heroes Philanthropy which acknowledges “30 outstanding altruists” in the Asia Pacific region.
And the said annual list features “billionaires, entrepreneurs, and celebrities across the region who are committed to solving some of the most pressing issues facing the Asia-Pacific.”
The 34-year-old artist was recognized for donating 1-million pesos and for personally distributing relief goods to the earthquake victims in Mindanao last October. Forbes also noted her marvelous work in extending aid to the displaced victims during the Marawi siege.
According to the global magazine, which published its list yesterday (December 2), Angel has donated a total amount of 15-million pesos “to causes such as educational scholarships for students, supporting the economic and political rights of indigenous people, and ending violence against women and children.”
Aside from the causes mentioned above, Angel’s donation has “helped roughly 500 families hit by some of the country’s largest disasters: Tropical Storm Ondoy in 2009, Typhoon Habagat in 2012 and Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, one of the deadliest storms on record, leaving 6,300 dead.”
Everytime Angel carries out any volunteer work, she makes sure that there is no media coverage. And it’s just one of the reasons why her fans and celebrity friends continue to love her even more and consider her as a real-life Darna.
SM Prime’s Hans Sy also joined the prestigious list. He was recognized for his donations to Child Haus, a shelter for cancer-stricken children while undergoing medical evaluation and treatment.
