Last Sunday, October 13, the 33rd Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television was held at the Henry Lee Irwin Theater at the Ateneo De Manila University in Quezon City.

Apart from the inspiring triumphs was the kilig dedication Arjo Atayde gave to Maine Mendoza during his acceptance speech after being named Best Drama Supporting Actor for his role as Elai in The General’s Daughter.

After thanking the PMPC and the Lord for the award, Arjo admitted that, despite doing his best to look cool and collected, he felt a bit shy.

Hindi niyo lang po alam, [but] I’m shaking right now,” he told everyone in attendance. “I’m really shy.”

He, then, went on to thank his supporters and ABS-CBN for giving him the opportunity, not only to portray Elai in The General’s Daughter but to all the characters he gives to life. He also thanked his co-stars in the action-drama series for always believing in him.

“First of all, I want to thank the cast for teaching me every day,” he says. “I remain to be a student of what I’m doing every day, and I’m very thankful that I’m privileged that I’m working with all these brilliant actors and actresses,”

He then shared how he initially doubted his capabilities after giving a shoutout to lead star Angel Locsin and the show’s director Manny Palo.

“I told you, I doubted myself every day,” he narrated. “You believed in me, so much. You told me ‘You can do it’ and now I’m standing in front of you guys with this award. Thank you. I love you guys so much.”

And, lastly, we all went giddy when Arjo ended his speech with such a sweet dedication to Maine Mendoza.

“Last, but not the least, Maine, thank you so much for being such an inspiration, for being my every day, for keeping up with my weirdness. This one’s for you!” he said, to the cheers and jeers of everyone in attendance.

Netizens started spotting Arjo and Maine together back in October 2018. It was January of this year when the award-winning actor confirmed that he is exclusively dating the Kapuso actress. Maine, on the other hand, confirmed their relationship in a blog post last March!

Congratulations, Arjo! We are so proud of you! Watch his full speech below!
