Asians ruled at the 95th Academy Awards!

Everything Everywhere All At Once, nominated for 11 awards, dominated the Oscars by winning seven, including best picture, best actress, best director, best editing, best supporting actor, best supporting actress and best original screenplay.

Throughout the awards season, the movie, a major touchstone for Asian representation in American cinema, won numerous awards for acting, directing and best picture from various groups.

Directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert took home the directing prize. Both started directing for music videos and just couldn't believe they won over their co-nominees Steven Spielberg, Martin McDonagh, Todd Field, and Ruben Östlund.

Michelle Yeoh, who came out in numerous Asian roles on the big screen, won best actress and making her the first Asian star to take home an Oscar.

The first actress of Asian descent to be nominated for best actress was Merle Oberon for the 1935 film, Dark Angel. Oberon was Indian-British.

Ke Huy Quan, a former Hollywood child actor, becomes the second Asian actor to win best supporting actor.

The first Asian actor to win this category was Haing S. Ngor for the 1984 film, The Killing Fields. Ngor was American-Cambodian and passed away in 1996.

Jamie Lee Curtis, who became a screen icon at age 19 because of the 1978 horror classic, Halloween, scored an upset win as best supporting actress. She won over heavy favorite, Angela Bassett for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Curtis's parents, Hollywood legends Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh, were also nominated for an Oscar: Tony Curtis for best actor for the 1957 film, Sweet Smell of Success and Janet Leigh was nominate for best supporting actress for the 1960 psychological thriller Psycho.

Winning best actor was '90s and 2000's Hollywood hunk Brendan Fraser for his dramatic turn in The Whale. This is the actor's biggest comeback after he stopped acting in 2013.

Fraser was known for his box-office hit movies such as George of the Jungle, Blast From The Past, The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, and Journey To The Center of the Earth.

The live presentation of the Oscars was held at the Dolby Theater with host Jimmy Kimmel. The awards ceremony was also viewed via live streaming on Disney+.
