Bela Padilla gets real about being portraying her role in the Philippine adaptation of Miracle in Cell No.7!

Actress-writer Bela Padilla admitted that her role in Miracle in Cell No.7 is truly meant for her.

In the film, Bela is the older version of the character of Yesha which was portrayed by talented child star Xia Vigor. Yesha is a bubbly kid and a daughter to a mentally-challenged man who was wrongfully imprisoned for murder.

Prior to Bela accepting the role, Multimedia Princess Nadine Lustre was originally supposed to star in her place, but withdrew from the project due to “medical concerns.”

Despite being a second choice for the role, Bela says she never perceive it that way.

“Ako po talaga, nagma-matter sa akin ’yong timing, kaya hindi po nagma-matter sa akin kung first choice ako or pang 22 po ako na napili [for the role],” Bela explained earlier this afternoon during the special solo press conference that Viva Films prepared for her for the Miracle in Cell No.7 promo.

“Basta kung sino po ’yong lalabas sa pelikula, feeling ko it’s meant for the people who are on-screen.”

Bela further explained that there are a lot of instances that she gets to portray the role that she wants but there are also times that certain projects are not meant for her.

Marami din naman akong projects na gustong gawin na napupunta sa iba or may mga projects na hindi ko in-expect na mapupunta sa akin.”

And Bela knew that Miracle in Cell No.7 was given to her for a reason.

“Alam ko ano ito eh, I would like to believe na may...I wouldn’t say na may Divine Providence, pero alam mo ’yon, it fell into my lap for a reason. It’s meant to be.”

She continued, “Lalo na katulad ng sinabi ko na this film is very positive, ang gaan i-shoot, ang gaan dalin, ang gaan panoorin kahit na papaiyakin namin kayong lahat, magaan ’yong pakiramdam mo pagkalabas mo [ng sinehan].

“Parang everything just fell into place kahit ako hindi ko naman siya [role] hiningi, basta nangyare na lang, kaya thank you po.”

The Philippine version of Miracle In Cell No. 7 will be part of the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival and will hit theaters on December 25.
