Queen of Country Music Dolly Parton will turn 75 in two months. And her birthday wish is to get back on the cover of Playboy magazine!
The star of Netflix’s holiday musical, Christmas On The Square, confessed it's still possible she could break out her old Playboy bunny costume one last time in honor of her 75th birthday.
In an interview with BBC Radio 5’s The Scott Mills & Chris Stark Show, the 9 To 5 singer confirmed talks about Playboy.
“Well, there's some truth in that. I just might do it. If I can do it in good taste and they want it, we'll do it along with a really good interview inside. So, yeah, it's possible. Yep, we've talked about it,” says Dolly.
Parton first graced the cover of Playboy in 1978. She wore the iconic Playboy bunny outfit and ears.
Last March, she told 60 Minutes Australia: “I don't plan to retire. I just turned 74 and I plan to be on the cover of Playboy magazine again. See I did Playboy magazine years ago and I thought it’d be such a hoot if they'll go for it — I don't know if they will — if I could be on the cover again when I'm 75. Boobs are still the same!”
Dolly candidly talked about plastic surgery and what she has had done through the years.
"I've had about all the nips and tucks I can have. The good part with me though, I have my own look. I look kind of cartoonish and cartoons don't really age that much. Even when I'm 90, I'll still probably look about the same way. Just thicker make-up and bigger hair!”
In Netflix’s Christmas On The Square, Dolly co-stars with Christine Baranski, Jenifer Lewis and Treat Williams. The musical is directed and choreographed by Debbie Allen.
The film follows a wealthy and pretentious woman named Regina Fuller, who after the death of her father, returns to her hometown before Christmas to evict the residents and sell the land to a mall developer.
“I love all the Christmas shows on TV, all the Christmas specials — and especially any Christmas musical, and this is my first Christmas musical. I had the chance to write 14 original new songs, and hearing all these wonderful artists sing them was a real joy for me.”
Of the 14 tracks she wrote for the film, she loves the holiday tunes “Christmas Is” and “Christmas on the Square,” both of which she also recorded herself and included in her album Holly Dolly Christmas. The other version is recorded by Miley Cyrus.
Another song “Can You Forgive Me?” sung by Baranski at the end of the film, is a favorite.
“I think it also has a real message in it for a lot of people — but she just delivered it so well,” says Dolly.
Dolly Parton’s Christmas OnThe Square is currently streaming on Netflix after its premiere last November 22.
