The jampacked ceremony saw films such as Arden Rod Condez's John Denver Trending, Joji V. Alonso's Belle Douleur, and Theodore Boborol's Iska recognized for awards such as Best Feature Film (Full-Length), Audience Choice (Full-Length), and Best Screenplay, respectively.
Actors were also recognized for their work in their respective Cinemalaya films such as Ruby Ruiz for Iska who bagged Best Actress (Full-Length) and Ricky Davao for F#*@BOIS who was honored with Best Supporting Actor.
Viva artist Ella Cruz was given the award for Best Supporting Actress (Full-Length) for her work in Thop Nazareno's Edward, besting other actresses. This is her first acting award since winning Best Child Actress at the 56th FAMAS Awards in 2008 for Resiklo. Nazareno accepted the award on Ella's behalf, for she was not available to attend the event.
She, however, took to Instagram to express gratitude for her achievement.
"di ako makapaniwala... 😭❤ Maraming salamat po ❤😭 Lord, Thank You #Edward #Cinemalaya" the actress wrote.
Congratulations, Ella! Congratulations to all the winners of Cinemalaya!
