Kapamilya stars Enchong Dee and Ogie Diaz lambasted Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) spokesperson Celine Pialago for her "drama serye" remark regarding the burial of a detained political activist's baby.

The burial, which transpired on October 16 at the Manila North Cemetery, went viral on social media and earned mixed reactions from the public after photos of detainee Reina Mae Nasino, who was seen wearing personal protective equipment and was still on handcuffs, were posted online.

On her Facebook post on Sunday, October 18, the MMDA spox said that the symphatizing Netizens should examine the reason why Nasino was arrested in the first place.

She also remarked that the Netizens are turning the whole event into an afternoon soap opera.

Tigilan niyo!" she added.

Some netizens agreed to Pialago's statement while others, including celebrities such as actor-entrepreneur Enchong Dee, and comedian and talent manager Ogie Diaz, did not accept it.

Instead, they both slammed the MMDA spokesperson for what she has said, and especially so because though she holds a position in the government, her office has nothing to do with the issue.

Ogie Diaz told Pialago on his tweet on October 18 that she should have shown compassion to her fellow woman.

Diaz also questioned Pialago on his follow-up tweet why dozens of policemen were deployed at the Manila North Cetemetry to escort a single detainee who was already in handcuffs.

Actor Enchong Dee, on the other hand, described the MMDA spox as "heartless and unintelligent" for uttering her statement against the grieving Naciso on social media.

"This person is Heartless and Unintelligent," the actor said on his tweet.

"Bilang isang tao... ok lang talaga sayo??" he asked.

The 23-year-old detainee was arrested in November 2019 at the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) office in Tondo, Manila and was charged with illegal possession of firearms and explosives.

She gave birth to her baby daughter River on July 1 at the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital. The three-month-old baby died because of acute respiratory distress syndrome.
