JC Santos feels “on the clouds” as he awaits to be a father to his first child with wife Shyleena Herrera, who is now nine months pregnant.
The actor could not contain his glee when the press grilled him about his upcoming fatherhood after the premiere night of his movie On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets, saying that he now focuses on the present.
“Focus ako kung ano ’yong in the moment,” JC said. “Nagbabantay ako ng asawa kasi nga buntis. Nandoon muna ako ngayon...so enjoying.”
When asked what the name of the baby will be, he decided not to reveal it and will simply announce it when it arrives in this world. However, he considers the baby as a blessing because the arrival came at the same time when projects also come his way one after another.
“Actually, noong nalaman ko na nandiyan, doon sunod din talaga [mga] project ko,” he said. “So, isa siyang blessing sa akin. [Kasi], dumami ’yong project ko dahil feeling ko simula noong nalaman ko.”
However, he could not hide that he also feels anxious about his wife’s pregnancy because the baby might arrive at any time.
“Kinakabahan,” he described. “Two weeks na lang. Hindi ko alam. [...] Nasa 37th week na kami so anytime soon na, eh. Tas ayoko naman sana--kinakabahan ako na baka may shooting ako.”
Yet, JC gave people from his respective shoots a heads up that he might leave the set to tend to his wife just in case she might give birth.
NO REGRETS WITH ANNOUNCING
When pikapika.ph asked him if there were any regrets that he finally announced his marriage and upcoming baby during the press conference of the abovementioned Irene Emma Villamor flick, JC said there was none at all.
“Alam naman ng mga tao na hindi naman ako nasa love team,” he explained. “Hindi ko naman pinagkakalat na single ako, hindi naman ako nagkakalat na may girlfriend. Alam ng tao na ‘Oy, si JC? Ahh, actor.’ ‘Lam mo ’yon?”
When asked if he prefers the baby to be delivered in a normal or cesarean way, this was JC’s answer:
“Kahit anong dumating. Kung ano man mangyari. Actually, ang nire-recommend ng doctor namin, siyempre, of course, normal. Pero, kung maging cesarean o normal, okay lang, wala naman akong problema.”
PLANNING FOR THE FUTURE
JC then adds that he is already at the stage where he is planning for the baby’s future, thinking about where to put the baby to school, where the entire family will live, among others.
“Nandoon na ako sa future planning,” he said. “Marami na akong plan A, plan B para sa kanya. [...] Ang dami ko nang naiisip. So. ’pag ganoon pa naman ako, nagsusulat ako lagi so nililista ko lang para mababalikan ko lang.”
If the kid ever wants to enter show business, will daddy JC support this decision?
“Kung gusto niya,” JC answered. “Pero wa-warningan ko siya. Wa-warningan ko siya na parang ‘Mahirap, ahh.’”
To conclude the interview, JC was asked if he will be one of those celebrity dads who post about their children religiously on Instagram.
“Posible, posible,” he said. “Sabi ko nga na sobrang saya ko na babae ang anak ko, eh. Masaya ako. I think girl daddy ako. Malapit ako sa babaeng bata. In a good way ahh!”
On Vodka, Beer, and Regrets premieres in local theaters on February 5. It stars Santos and Bela Padilla and is directed by Irene Emma Villamor.
