Jennylyn Mercado expresses excitement to play as Dr. Maxine in Descendants of the Sun Pinoy remake
Kapuso actress Jennylyn Mercado is officially set to portray as Dingdong Dantes’ leading lady in the highly-anticipated Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean drama, Descendants of the Sun.
Jennylyn will give life to the character of Dr. Maxine “Beauty” De La Cruz (Dr. Kang Mo-yeon in the Korean version, played by Song Hye Kyo), the love interest of Big Boss or Captain Lucas, (Captain Yoo Shi-jin, in the Korean version played by Song Joong-ki), which will be portrayed locally by the Kapuso Primetime King.
The good news was announced yesterday by the newscast show 24 Oras.
After concealing the news for quite some time, Jennylyn is finally able to express her excitement upon accepting the said project. Via Instagram today, she formally announces her participation in the show.
Her post reads: lHi everyone. Minsan lang ako magpost about my projects and hindi ko mapigilan ang sarili ko. I am super happy to portray Dr. Maxine De La Cruz of Descendants of The Sun The Philippine Adaptation.”
“When I heard they started taping already and preparing for the soap, ako din nacurious kung sino nga ang napili para sa role.”
The 32-year-old singer-actress thanked GMA for trusting her and promised that she will totally give her best to give justice to the role.
“When I learned that it was me, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for GMA’s trust and also pressured since I know how big this project is. I promise I would do everything to give justice to the role. I won’t let you all down. Pangako.”
Jennylyn’s celebrity friends were also ecstatic with her new soap in the works as they showed their support for the actress in the comment section.
