Fans of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla all united against a common enemy: blogger Banat By who attacked the KathNiel tandem about their views on the ABS-CBN shut down. Know the full story by scrolling down below!

Supporters of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla slam blogger Banat By after he blasted them for presenting their views on the shutdown of their home network, ABS-CBN.

Being one of the most popular love teams of the Kapamilya network, the real-and-reel life couple, collectively known as KathNiel, spoke up and defended both the station and its artists who have also voiced their stance on the shutdown.

After being issued a cease and desist order by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) last May 5, ABS-CBN went off the air. The media empire’s franchise had expired, even with a stack of pending bills that would have granted a new franchise.

Blogger Banat By posted the video slamming KathNiel’s defense over the Kapamilya network and, as of writing, is still up on his Facebook page. It has also been shared by Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Deputy Executive Director Mocha Uson on her Facebook page, MOCHA USON BLOG.

It could be recalled that Banat By paved the way for Uson to continue posting her views on Facebook after the aforementioned page was mass reported by netizens and became unavailable last March 20.

KathNiel fans rallied behind the famous tandem, spreading the news to block and report By’s videos so Facebook and YouTube could take them down. The hashtags #WeBlockAsOne and #StarveTheTrolls then became a trending topic on Twitter, with fans tweeting about such.

In Kathryn’s recent post, she spoke for the first time about ABS-CBN shutting down, saying it is an issue of public health, labor, and press freedom.

Last May 13, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano and Congress granted a bill that gave the Kapamilya network a temporary franchise, allowing them to operate until October 31, 2020. However, for it to be approved, it has to be submitted to the Senate, reconciled by both Houses, and signed by President Rodrigo Duterte himself so it can be passed into law.
