Former ABS-CBN actor Leandro Muñoz encouraged parents of LGBTQ+ people to give their full-on support as he spoke about his transgender son Frankie.
On Paolo Contis' talk show Just In, Leandro recalled how Frankie came out to him.
"This is something that I will never, ever hide from the public, nor anyone should ever hide from the public because this is a serious matter," he said.
It was back when Frankie was 16-years-old. His tearful teenager went to him and asked for a psychiatrist, saying back then that he needed help because he felt something wrong.
"Why? Because attracted siya sa same sex,” Leandro said. "I said 'There's nothing wrong with you.'"
Leandro further explained that Frankie told him he felt more like a man, to which the loving father responded with "Then go with what you feel right."
"So my point here is kailangan talaga i-support natin what makes our children happy," he said. "Ever since na sinabi niya 'yon, wala na, hindi na siya [nasa] closet, hindi na siya nagtago."
Leandro told Paolo that Frankie, now 26, is happily living his life as a trans man who plans to take up psychology, focusing on LGBTQ+ psychology.
"So my message to everyone is, kung mayroon kayong anak who's trying to come out, just support, give 100% support," he said.
Frankie, who was born as Franchesca, is Leandro's child from a previous relationship. He moved with Frankie to the United States back in 2004.
The 44-year-old Leandro now lives with his wife, Sheryl, in California. Together, they have a son named Mason, born this January.
