Liza Soberano talked about the significance of children’s rights to the world after she was named as an ambassador of Save the Children Philippines.

In a video statement released through Save the Children Philippines’ official Facebook page last Thursday, April 15, the actress expressed her gratitude to be given the role.

“I’m just so honored to be working with a family who shares the same interests as me,” she said. “I myself have witnessed the change that they have brought upon children and their lives and I can attest to all of the good that they have been doing.”

Liza also stated that she has been a “silent supporter” of the children’s organization since 2016, but only found out about its local division two years later.

Upon learning of such, she began working with Save the Children Philippines for two projects, namely the #LahatDapat campaign against malnutrition and “Project ARAL” which focuses on children’s learning amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Childhood is a stage in a human being in which they are most vulnerable but that doesn’t make children the possession of their parents, guardians, organizations, or the country. They are not mere people in the making,” Liza said on the importance of having equal rights for children.

She also looks forward to doing more fieldwork with Save the Children Philippines since it moves her to extend help for other people.

“There’s nothing more grounding and heartwarming than seeing the look of people’s faces when you give them the simplest of assistance,” she said.

Liza has been a vocal advocate for women and children’s rights, being involved with projects about such in the past. Last May, she spoke in an online discussion named Not For Sale: Protecting our Children from Online Sexual Exploitation alongside Senator Risa Hontiveros. By October, she spoke in a Gabriela Youth seminar about violence against women, sharing her own experiences.
