What makes the ABS-CBN Ball such a spectacular event? The annual gala, formerly known as the Star Magic Ball, has been said to be the local equivalent to the Oscars and the Met Gala—both glitzy, much-awaited affairs attended by top stars in their best garb. But aside from the fashion, there’s something else we love seeing at this star-studded event: the many loveteams. Here are the loved-up pairs (some reel, some real) who attended the ball last Saturday:
Nadine Lustre and James Reid
Both dressed in studded black garments, James Reid and Nadine Lustre definitely stood out at the red carpet that night. Nadine wore a Garimon Roferos creation styled by Myrrh Lao To while James shone in a Michael Cinco suit styled by Bang Pineda.
Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla
Sleek is the best way to describe Kathryn’s pared-down look at the ABS-CBN Ball this year. Styled by sisters Kim and Boop Yap, Kath wore a white, one-shoulder dress by Jun Escario that showed off just the right amount of skin. Daniel, on the other hand, wore head-to-toe Yves Saint Laurent styled by Ton Lao and Macky Combe.
Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber
One of the most-awaited pairs that night, Maymay and Edward did not disappoint their fans with their outfits. Stylists Rain Dagala and Em Millan gave Edward a preppy, school-inspired look complete with Francis Libiran suit, and draped Maymay’s model-like frame in a pink Furne One dress with feather and embroidery details.
Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil
Liza and Enrique went international this year by wearing designs from Alexander McQueen and Balmain, respectively. The stars of the recently-concluded fantaserye Bagani were styled by Ton Lao (for Enrique) and Perry Tabora (for Liza).
Angelica Panganiban and Carlo Aquino
Exes-turned-friends Angelica and Carlo walked the red carpet together to the delight of their fans. Angelica, styled by Myrrh Lao To, wore an emerald-green Michael Leyva gown while Carlo looked dapper in a classic Avel Bacudio.
Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia
Julia’s theme that night was short, sweet, and sexy—in a sparkling Mark Bumgarner dress vetted by stylist Cath Sobrevega. Her boyfriend Joshua Garcia made for the perfect escort in his bespoke Joey Espiritu suit.
Barbie Imperial and JM de Guzman
The newest loveteam on this list, Barbie and JM certainly did well at the red carpet. Both styled by Myrrh Lao To, Barbie showed off her enviable figure in an off-shoulder Harvey Cenit dress while JM was all smiles in a suit by Edwin Tan.
Kim Chiu and Xian Lim
The chinita princess and her chinito prince looked every bit the part as they walked down the carpet hand in hand. Stylist Patty Yap put Kim in a breathtaking Michael Cinco ballgown with intricate beading and painted butterfly details, while Ton Lao had Xian in a one-of-a-kind Francis Libiran suit.
Kisses Delavin and Donny Pangilinan
Kisses was pretty in purple last Saturday as she wore a beaded lavender Francis Libiran gown with a voluminous skirt. Her loveteam partner, Donny Pangilinan, looked handsome in an Avel Bacudio suit styled by Mark Ranque.
Maris Racal and Iñigo Pascual
Maris Racal’s red and gold Mak Tumang gown, chosen for her by stylist Ryuji Shiomitsu, was one of the most eye-catching looks of the night. The same can be said of her loveteam partner Iñigo Pascual, who wore a printed suit with accessories selected by Aaron Mangsat.
