It was last Thursday, September 5, when the all-day educational channel Knowledge Channel celebrated its twenty years on television with a press launch that introduced eight new programs featuring some of the country’s lead Kapamilya stars that will share their love for learning.
One of these stars is Maymay Entrata, one half of the powerhouse love team MayWard with Edward Barber, who makes her Knowledge Channel debut as a co-host of the fourth season of Puno Ng Buhay with Khalil Ramos, a series that tackles Philippine forests.
Now that she is part of the Knowledge Channel, Maymay was asked during the press launch how she was in school, where she revealed that she was more into extra-curricular activities like dancing and other events.
“Sa academy naman po, average lang ako,” the actress-model revealed. “Average [pero] nag-study para mas marami pang natutunan. Tsaka ’pag nagsa-study po ako, for example bukas po ang exam, nagsa-study ako late [at night] na kasi doon ako natututo, hindi ko alam bakit. Doon ko binabaon lahat.”
She then revealed that one of her best subjects back in school was Music, Arts, Physical Education, and Health (MAPEH) because, as she said, she was active in different extra-curricular activities.
“Sigurado ako hindi best subject ko ’yong English po, ano?” Maymay said in jest. “Siguro best subject ko MAPEH, kasi nga active ako eh. [Tapos], Filipino tsaka Araling Panlipunan.”
Yet, she admits that subjects Mathematics and English are not her strongest suits, that is why when she entered the collegiate level, she chose to major in the latter to improve on the language.
“Nahihirapan talaga ako [sa] English. ’Yon talaga ’yong weakness ko kaya ang pinili kong course noong college ako ay major in English kasi ’yon ‘yong weakness ko talaga.” she said.
During the ambush interview after the launch, Maymay revealed that she is going back to school through an online college in her province of Cagayan De Oro.
“Inaayos pa rin po ’yong online school ko po kasi ’yong course ko po, doon lang po naka-base sa province namin,” she explained. “Tsaka ayoko naman po na i-ce-credit ko lang siya dito tas babalik nanaman ako sa first year college. Third year college po kasi ako doon.”
She also said that she is the first-ever student who will take an online school in her college while wishing that she can be able to start schooling this semester.
