“Be you. Love yourself. Start with YOURSELF.”
That is how actress Melissa Ricks began her message of body positivity on Instagram this afternoon, December 5.
In the past, she has been vocal about how she perceives her body in a positive light. Last October 11, she posted an unedited photo of herself, saying how editing such will not help her hide her “extra weight, bibil, stretch marks, freckles, wrinkles and cellulite” and to remind everyone, specifically mothers, to not be ashamed to show their stretch marks.
In a similar post, Melissa’s photo showed her posing in a bathing suit and some inspirational quotes about being overweight.
“For me, I’m 30lbs heavier, and Happier. ‘Yes, I’m larger than a size 2, but that doesnt mean im fat..’” she wrote as the caption. “I’ve gone thru depression, anxiety, anger and hatred. I’m happy that I am where I am, and I’m still standing here fighting🙏❤️👆”
She also gave a special shoutout to single mothers like her and cited two bible verses about self-love.
You are an inspiration, Melissa! Keep it up!
