Sorsogon's candidate for the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, Maria Isabela Galeria, took to her Instagram last Sunday, September 27, to announce the sad news that she has tested positive for the fast-spreading COVID-19 disease.
"With so much sadness in my heart, I regret to inform you that I have tested positive for COVID-19," the beauty queen told her followers. "This news breaks my heart deeply and I apologize if ever I put you at risk."
She said she was infected by the coronavirus disease despite following safety protocols.
"I have spoken with those that I saw recently. My team, my MUP sisters, and those I had close contact with in Manila all tested negative," she went on.
Isabela also asked anyone who ever came into close contact with her to have themselves checked right away.
"I am truly, deeply sorry. Kindly find it in your hearts to include me and my family in your prayers." she concluded.
The 22-year-old, who is a registered nurse and healthcare advocate, is one of 51 candidates to compete for the title of this year's Miss Universe Philippines. It was in last year's Bb. Pilipinas 2019 pageant where she placed as one of the Top 15.
The finals night of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 will be aired in GMA-7 this October 25.
