Legendary singer-songwriter James Ingram has passed away at the age of 66.
The man behind hit songs such as “Just Once” and “Somewhere Out There” died after a lengthy battle with brain cancer, according to a report from the US-based entertainment website TMZ.
The news was met with shock and sadness by the two-time Grammy winner’s fans, including Filipino singers and celebrities who looked up to James for his distinctive voice and the enduring quality of his music.
Gary Valenciano wrote a long tribute to the late singer via Instagram, sharing that James’s music “played a major role in my career and in my life.”
Manilyn Reynes posted a rare photo of herself with the RnB singer and thanked him for “inspiring us with your voice, your music...”
Concert King Martin Nievera also paid tribute to his late idol, saying that he will miss James’s “beautiful voice.”
Singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid and actress Janice de Belen also expressed their sadness through Instagram posts, which can be seen below.
