Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi was crowned Miss Universe 2019 earlier today, Monday, December 9 (Manila time) in the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta Georgia.
Prior to bagging the title, Miss South Africa delivered an empowering message during the Final Word portion of the competition.
Mexico, Puerto Rico and South Africa made it to the Top 3 of the said competition.
And among the prestigious pageant’s Top 3 finalists, Zobini’s winning answer truly stood out the most in answering the question: "What is the most important thing we should teach young girls today?"
She said, "I think the most important thing we should be teaching young girls today is leadership. It's something that has been lacking in young girls and women for a very long time, not because we don't want to but because of what society has labeled women to be. I think we are the most powerful beings [in] the world, and that we should be given every opportunity. And that is what we should be teaching these young girls: to take up space. Nothing is as important as taking up space in society and cementing yourself."
Madison Anderson of Puerto Rico placed first runner-up while Sofia Aragon of Mexico was hailed as the second runner-up of this year’s Miss Universe.
Congratulations, Miss Universe 2019 Zozibini Tunzi!
