Zanjoe Marudo shared how he managed to detach himself from leading man roles.

In an online interview via Facebook Live with Direk Adolfo Alix Jr. for the tenth series of #ExtendTheLove Actor’s Cue yesterday, May 22, Zanjoe opened up about his conscious effort to deviate from leading man roles.

“‘Yong nangyare kasi sakin Direk, nag-take ako ng risk,” he reveals.

With limited projects for leading men roles, Zanjoe decided to take on father roles.

This move happened in 2013, when he accepted to play the role of adoptive dad to to Andrea Brillantes in Annaliza.

He said that it was worth the risk since it opened more doors for him. Moreover, this helped him widen his acting range.

“Naging maganda ’yong outcome niya. Mas napansin ako, puwede ka pala kahit anong role...parang mas humaba ’yong buhay mo kapag may napapakita kang iba.”

Aside from Zanjoe, heartthrobs Daniel Padilla and Joshua Garcia were also guests of the said online interview.
