Die hard fans of James Reid and Nadine Lustre entered 2020 in shock when news of the couple having parted ways was confirmed.
It was at the beginning of the year when numerous reports spread that the then powerhouse love team known as JaDine have split due to "irreconcilable differences."
However, it was only last January 20, through a joint statement read on Tonight With Boy Abunda, that the two finally revealed that have officially broken up to focus on themselves.
The confirmation comes after weeks of speculations and fans insisting that the rumors were not true, debunking such when the two spent the holidays together.
And even though the two huge stars have closed the curtains in this well-loved chapter...
...they remain one of the most successful love teams in recent showbiz history.
Let's take walk down the memory lane of how the JaDine tandem came to be!
AUGUST 2013: THE BIRTH OF JADINE
Nadine parted ways with her girl group Pop Girls in 2011, starting off a solo career.
She started her solo career right with cameo appearances in films...
...but it was an appearance as a leading lady for James Reid's music video for Alam Niya Ba last August 2013 where Netizens saw that spark between them.
That almost 4 minutes of kilig wasn’t enough for the fans. They clamored for more!
A year after that, Viva Films granted their wishes, giving them starring roles in two films—Diary Ng Panget and Talk Back And You're Dead...
...and signing them to exclusive contracts, respectively.
AUGUST 2015: Teleserye Stardom
After being a massive hit in films, JaDine then brought their kilig to the smaller screens via the ABS-CBN teleserye, On the Wings of Love, bringing their characters Clark and Leah to life. The fans were ecstatic.
Clark and Leah made viewers so giddy that the show was a total hit, staying on air for 6 months!
FEBRUARY 2016: Changing reel to real
As the JaDine craze continue to boom, fans began speculating if the kilig they brought to the screens were becoming real for the two hit stars.
February 20, 2016 came in the form of their JaDine in Love concert. Fans went gaga as James professed his love for Nadine, confirming the speculations of real love
James later confirmed in the latenight news show Bandila that he meant what he said in the concert and that it was not all for show. Thus, the birth of #TeamReal.
But unknown to many, the two officially became a couple on February11, 2016, a week before the kilig concert.
MAY 2016: A look into #TeamReal
JaDine fans have looked up to James and Nadine so much, that Viva Books got them an up-close and personal look at their everyday lives via the book Team Real.
The book, which talks about the private lives of the two big celebrity lovebirds, became an absolute best seller because of its never-before-seen content!
AUGUST 2016: Til I Met You
The two would continue to give kilig to their fans onscreen when they starred in the Kapamilya romantic dramedy Til I Met You with JC Santos.
JULY 2017: “IT'S 2017!”
A year into their relationship, Nadine had unintentionally produced an internet meme when she responded to press queries that she and James were living together.
Thus, the iconic line "Come on, guys. It’s 2017." was born.
MARCH 2018: Ready for more mature roles
JaDine veered away from their usual movie/TV roles in 2018, starring in the Viva Films offering Never Not Love You in more mature roles.
The movie garnered Nadine her very own Gawad Urian Award for Best Actress a year later.
September 2018: Stunning debut at the ABS-CBN Ball
Decked out in their unique, all-black ensemble, the then-powerhouse love team wowed everyone as they made their debut as a couple in the yearly ABS-CBN Ball back in September of 2018.
MARCH 2019: It's confirmed!
While Nadine has managed to dodge questions about living together with James, the latter only took a conversation with Vice Ganda to confirm such.
"Well, we live together, so..." James casually said in an episode of Gandang Gabi Vice, three years into the relationship.
However, it was in 2019 when the two focused on separate paths in their career.
Nadine starred in Ulan (March 2019) and Indak (August 2019), where she was partnered with Carlo Aquino and Sam Concepcion respectively.
Meanwhile, James took a bow from the Viva Artists Agency to work on an ABS-CBN series with Momoland's Nancy McDonie.
January 2020: The breakup
James and Nadine were conspicously absent in their social media feeds together, as of late, prompting separation rumors.
However, in a pre-New Year’s eve interview with ABS CBN reporter MJ Felipe at an Eastwood City event, James said he would be spending New Year's Eve with Nadine in Makati.
They also travelled to Brazil together and hiked a mountain with friends at the beginning of the year before ultimately confirming their break-up.
In the statement released in TWBA, however, they said they were "really good friends" and are "on good terms."
