EXCLUSIVE: Cindy Miranda, mas pinangarap mag-artista more than maging beauty queen; goal magka-best actress trophy

“Boyish ako no’ng bata ako,” natatawang throwback niya. “Never akong nakapanood ng kahit anong beauty pageant.”

Thus, as a child, ang  secret wish daw niya ay maging artista. Secret dahil introvert daw siya but like most kids na nanonood ng TV, ini-imagine din niya ang sarili na lumalabas sa TV. And at that time, everything seemed farfetched. Wala naman daw siyang kakilala and she didn’t think her beauty was pang-artista.

But she blossomed into a pang-beauty-queen beauty kaya she was often prodded to try joining

schoolwide pageants. Sa Miss UST pageant siya namataan ni queen-maker Jonas Gaffud, whom she turned down dahil hindi siya serious sa pageant-pageant at that time.

Later on, she was scouted again—this time by Jay Montelibano—to try auditioning as co-host of Willie Revillame’s Wiltime Bigtime on TV5.

“Nakita lang niya ako sa Facebook and then minessage niya ako,” says Cindy of Jay, who at that time was the kanang-kamay of Willie before joining Viva as a marketing executive.

Hindi daw niya sinagot dahil kala niya bogus. Di naman kasi niya kilala.

But serendipituously, nakita siya ni Jay in person at an event at sinita siya bakit di sumagot. Jay invited her to visit the set of Wiltime Bigtime as an audience. Just to observe.

Siguro because malakas ’yong boses ko. Baka nagustuhan ni Kuya Wil.”

Her hosting stint didn’t last long because Jonas Gaffud prodded her once more to try joining Binibining Pilipinas.

She gave it a try and voila—umuwi siyang luhaan literally.

But she psyched herself. Trained a bit on her own, then showed up at the audition.

Competitive by nature daw kasi siya  bilang athlete siya before. On her first try, naiuwi niya ang Binibining Pilipinas-Tourism title noong 2013. And to her that was enough.

That somehow opened the door for show business pero hindi raw agad nangyari. And even as Viva signed her up, naghintay pa rin siya nang matagal bago mabigyan ng break.

And suddenly, the good projects started coming in.

Ang dilemma lang niya is that alam niyang magaganda at matitino ang mga projects niya like Adan, Nerisa and now, House Tour, but they’re being marketed as sexy films.

Indeed, the lady can act.  And she challenges herself to level up—actingwise—with every project until makuha raw niya ang respeto ng mga tao at tatakan na siya bilang isang mahusay na aktres.

In fact, ang goal niya isang makapag-uwi ng best actress trophy one of these days. And when that happens, masasabi na niya finally na naka-ahon na siya sa pagpapa-sexy.
