Scenes from Matteo's "Sundo" album launch

The newest Viva artist, Matteo Guidicelli, launched his first ever Viva Records single, “Sundo,” via a mini-concert held at the Music Hall in Metrowalk, Pasig last May 24.

“Sundo,” the 2007 hit by the Imago band, says Matteo, is his personal choice to record as a first single for Viva as the song best describes a special part of his life right now. He need not elaborate, right?

It’s also, he says, his semi-parting gift to his fans, who might miss him as he goes incommunicado for 45 days.

At presstime, Matteo is already on Day 4 of his scout ranger training in Camp Pecson in Bulacan. He comes back in July to resume the recording of his first album under Viva and to honor other commitments.

Matteo surprised many, including his family, when he joined the Army Reserve Force last month. But he wasn’t satisfied with just being a reservist, thus the scout ranger training. It is, he says, his way of serving his country.

At the May 24 single launch, Matteo sang nearly a dozen songs for his loyal fans who trooped to the venue to support him. Those songs include some international ballads and songs from his past albums. He also sang his girlfriend Sarah Geronimo’s hit, “Kilometro,” and of course, “Sundo.”

Here’s a glimpse of Matti’s mini-concert.
