For this episode of This is Showbiz, we give you Miss Joey Albert, an OPM icon whose timeless songs echoe countless brokenheartedness.
Aminin n’yo, at one point in your life ay naging personal theme song n’yo ang “Tell Me,” naging karaoke piece ang “I Remember the Boy” at “Minsan Pa,” at naging panuyo song ang “Iisa Pa Lamang.” Ilan lang yan sa mga kantang nilapatan ng malamyos na tinig ni Ms. Joey Albert.
Kaya in essence, she never really left. Sabi nga ni Butch Francisco, every Filipino will always have a space in their heart for a Joey Albert song.
Napa-major throwback kami sa aming kwentuhan with her. Of course, we also got to ask her the real reason why she left the Philippines 25 years ago, kahit kasagsagan pa rin ng kanyang musical career, pati na rin ang recent victory niya with colon cancer.
Moreover, we talked about her “comeback” of sort via her newly-created YouTube Channel, ang Dear Joey, kung saan naga-ala-Charo Santos siya ng Maalaala Mo Kaya because she reads letters of fans na may gustong i-share or may pinagdadaanan. The only difference is, instead na magbigay ng advise, she sings them a song of their choice or song na tingin niya ay bagay sa sitwasyon ng letter sender.
It’s a very kalmado channel, na magandang pansalit sa naglipanang maiingay na vlogs.
Ultimately, Joey admits she wants to be able to monetize through her channel dahil ayaw niyang pabayaan ang mga members ng Marian Missionaries of the Holy Cross, a congregation that her late mom founded. Sa mga pangangailangan ng mga ito mapupunta ang kung anumang kikitain ng kanyang musical channel.
Sabi nga niya, creating the channel is a win-win for all. Nakapagpasaya na ng letter sender, makakatulong pa.
Pero pinaka-winner ang audience dahil we get to watch the one and only Joey Albert sing for free. All you have to do is subscribe.
Go check it out, Dear Joey on Youtube.
