This is Showbiz Episode No. 56: Si Jackie Lou Blanco at ang k’wento ng kanyang kidnapping, ng JackielouVille, and her growing up sheltered sa piling ni Ms. Pilita Corrales

PART 2

Kung minsan talaga, mas fascinating pa ang totoong buhay ng mga artista kumpara sa mga roles na pino-portay nila onscreen.

That’s what we realized nang marinig namin nang buo ang fabled kidnapping story ni Jackie Lou Blanco.

She was barely a year old when her Filipino-Spanish dad Gonzalo Blanco—who could apparently live without Pilita Corrales, but not without his unica hija—decided to kidnap him. That’s despite him having full visitation rights. He’s so in love with his daughter that he devised a plan to take little Jacqueline out of the country when Pilita wasn’t looking.

Nabawi naman, after halos tumira na sa NBI office si Miss Pilata to track how the NBI was tracking them down.

And she’s learned all about it when she was eleven years old, when her dad once again decided to file for file custody. Her mom told her of the whole ordeal and showed her newspaper clippings of that frightening time in her life.

But all’s well that ended well. And Jackie remains thankful to her mom that despite what she’s been put through, hindi na nito itininuloy ang demanda sa dad niya thinking he’s only done it out of so much love. Plus, she couldn’t put it in her conscience na aalisan niya ng tatay ang anak niya by putting him in jail.

Life imitating art, di ba? Kala mo sa pelikula lang nangyayari but it happened to Jackie.

She ended up living with her mom throughout her life while maintaining uninterrupted relationship with her dad who so loved her that he named a chunk of real estate he’s invested on after her. It’s now known as Jackielou Ville na sa loob ay may Jackielou Avenue. Haha! Of course Jackie Lou appreciated that a lot pero pag tinatanong siya about it, nae-embarrass daw siya.

Growing up with the Asia’s Queen of Songs was like going on a constant concert tour. Halos bitbit daw silang dalawa ng kapatid niyang si Monching Gutierrez sa mga shows nito kaya alam nila pareho na big-time celebrity ang nanay nila.

Hindi naman daw sila spoiled pinalaki. Sapat lang. But her, bilang babae, may pagka-sheltered. Maraming bawal. Kaya she recalls having only the late Liezl Martinez, na only daughter naman ni Amalia Fuentes, as her playmate bilang magkatid-bahay sila.

But we won’t detail them here.
