In the past several months, the moniker DJ Loonyo has been making waves in the social media world, especially in the popular video-sharing service TikTok.

The 28-year-old internet sensation has made a name for himself with his impressive dance covers last February, specifically his cover of “Intentions” by Justin Bieber which has over a million views.

While his covers are dropping jaws on social media, some people have yet to know who DJ Loonyo is. Here are some facts pikapika.ph has unearthed from the Internet about the DJ-choreographer who is taking the internet by storm!

Born and raised in the city of Cagayan De Oro, Rhemuel Lunio (DJ Loonyo’s real name) began his passion for dancing when he was in high school, starting with jazz before eventually realizing that he was more drawn to hip-hop and urban culture as he moved forth with becoming a professional dancer.

After being trained by some of the most premier dancers in the country such as Laurence Chua and Patrick Romero from the Philippine Allstars and Rockstars, he became a member of the latter dance group while making rounds as a DJ in Cove Manila where he got the name “DJ Loonyo.”

DJ Loonyo, himself, then began holding dance workshops, where he got to start the dance group Rockwell.

As the founding member and choreographer of Rockwell, DJ Loonyo led the team to numerous accolades, including bagging championships at the 2017 Champions Tour Open Division and 2018 Dance Star Croatia. At the same time, he began spinning for the biggest clubs in Manila.

However, in 2019, the dancer took a bow from the dance group he founded in their final dance concert as he had to focus on his choreographer duties in a dance studio in China.

As time passed by, DJ Loonyo rose to fame once again, when he began posting dance covers of 2000s hits on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. While enjoying the success of Internet stardom, he is also busy becoming the CEO of his own company, the Funky Dance Studio, where he hopes to open 50 more studios across China.

In recent times, DJ Loonyo got netizens buzzing when sexy actress Ivana Alawi talked him into pranking her mother for a YouTube video. Then, a few days ago, the latter unearthed an old conversation she had with the DJ-choreographer when she attended his dance class several years ago.

The two got fans all giddy, but have never confirmed nor denied that there is a possibility of them dating.

However, in a recent episode of Magandang Buhay, DJ Loonyo happily announced that he is single and expressed that when the time is right, he hopes to meet a lady that is God-fearing, family-oriented, and wise.
