Mistah, which is said to be a military slang for "schoolmate" within the PMA (Philippine Military Academy) community, became the title of the 1994 blockbuster action movie ng action prince na si Robin Padilla.
In Mistah, Robin plays as Sgt. Mario Cariño, who was assigned to fight Muslim rebels in Mindanao.
While inside the prison, Robin embraced the Muslim faith and had since converted to Islam.
The Bebong Osorio crafted action-packed movie also stars Roi Vinzon, Daniel Fernando, Rez Cortez, Jun Aristorenas, Joko Diaz, Padilla brothers Rustom and Royette, and Ana Roces as Binoe’s love interest.
And speaking of Rustom, it’s interesting to note na isa ito sa maraming action movies na nagawa niya before coming out as the transgender woman BB Gandanghari in 2009. She was officially recognized by the US Court as a woman in November 2016. Now a model and vlogger, BB resides in Los Angeles, California.
Royette, for his part, passed on from heart attack in January 2021.
