Singer-songwriter Shane Dandan, first came to public attention five years ago, through the singing competition, The Voice Kids Season 1, where she was mentored by no less than Broadway star Lea Salonga.
Though she didnt bag the grand prize, Shanne’s unique vocal style—coupled with skills in penning songs with inspiring lyrics—proved more enduring and relevant than most.
Today, she is not only known for her pop music that gives us major LSS [Last Song Syndrome], but also as someone who promotes body positivity and breaker of body stereotypes on social media.
Pikapika is privileged to have been given the chance to know this no-nonsense girl, who lit up the whole room with her sweet smile and wonder curl, as she agreed to play one of our fun games—the one-word song challenge.
The 19-year-old musician had to spontaneously create a song or sing an existing song using words we have randomly selected from the lyrics of her newest single, “Umaga,” such as dahan-dahan, ulan, ihip, liwanag, mainit, and more!
Once she started strumming her ukelele, the shy girl instantly transformed into a confident artist, who gave us a rare showcase of her impressive song-writing and melody-creation skills.
